GALUNIC D. Charles
Organizational Culture in The Palgrave Encyclopedia of Strategic Management Teece, D., Augier, M,. and Knudsen T. (Eds.) Palgrave (Forthcoming)

Organizational Culture is an elusive concept. It has tremendous face validity—everyone seems to understand what culture is—but often that understanding is vague and/or incomplete, and there can be as many definitions of culture as there are people studying it. This article defines organizational culture through a popular framework or tool for analyzing culture. It is descriptive but also practical. It emphasizes something senior and seasoned leaders appreciate—understanding the organizational cultures they actually maintain, not just the ones they wish for, is crucial to effective strategic management.
