Global Assessment in The Purpose of Business: Contemporary Perspectives from Different Walks of Life, Palgrave Macmillan (2015) 107-129
The chapter analyses globalisation during the current decade, and argues that changes that seem tumultuous when experienced in real time, take time to work their effect on the structure of world affairs. One of the features of globalization is that events can no longer be conceived as sequential where ‘one damned thing follows another”, so much as punctuated by the inter-action of both ongoing forces such as technology and of pasts long gone. The modern world features both a trend to uniformity offset by a much greater complexity, and therefore variety, within human societies. This has become particularly evident as we procede into the third decade of the modern globalization process.
